Reports indicate two large steamships, the Empress of Ireland with 1200 aboard and the Hannover, collided in the St. Lawrence. Wireless news began to tell of the disaster but suddenly stopped. Meagre reports suggest both vessels were lost with significant loss of life.
A water-logged raft on the Orleans street pond behind Mead Morri son Manufacturing in East Boston collapsed during a game of pirates yesterday afternoon. James Morson 11 of 184 Bennington Street died. Playmate Harry Perlmuter 7 of 326 Bremen Street survived.

Testimony in Superior Court before Judge McLaughlin yesterday exposed reasons behind Mr. and Mrs. Edmond A. Dreyfus separation. The suit, filed by Mr. Dreyfus for divorce on statutory grounds, featured tales of the couple’s pre‑separation conduct. Dreyfus, son of Arthur Dreyfus, proprietor of the Hotel Dreyfus on Beach Street, has worked there and served as manager of the Providence Hotel Dreyfus in Rhode Island.
Mrs Dreyfus identified as Louise D. Dreyfus sits beside attorney W H Powers. She appears composed during court proceedings, described as slender with pale face, striking features, and dark hair and eyes wearing a black hat with white ostrich plumes, a white muslin shirtwaist, and a black skirt.
Mrs Diana R Heath widow of William R Heath a prominent local woman died at her Merrimack home on her 68th birthday after an 11 day illness.
Oliver C. Elliot, superintendent of the Boston Industrial Home, refutes Mayor Curley’s assertion that the women’s department is under a man who "covers the women up." Elliot says the mayor may have misread the situation, noting his watchman Forten’s comments during a tour, and declares the mayor’s statement false in its entirety.
The back of the May heat wave broke yesterday and New England sighed with relief after two suffocating nights in Boston.
The heat left seven dead and over 50 hospitalized with prostration as a 30 year high heat spell spiked in heat. Mayor Curley’s baby Paul survived and the mayor’s son is recovering. The day’s high cooled to 85 by 3 pm easing fear and letting life resume. A Medford man jailed after slapping his mother was released after death ruled apoplexy from heat as the cause.

Washington reports from German sources that arms and ammunition landed for Huerta at Puerto Mexico were manufactured in the United States and shipped from Boston and New York to Hamburg before being re shipped to Mexico. If mediation fails and U S forces advance on Mexico City they will confront guns made in their own country.
The War Department forbids shipments across the northern border to Mexico amid reports of a consignment to the constitutionalists. President Wilson then orders the seizure of the Vera Cruz customs house upon learning the Upiranga would carry the same cargo.
In Henniker New Hampshire on May 28 reports say a woman asserts she knows the murderer of Howard W. Peaslee the wealthy toy maker slain last Friday night. Police reportedly consider Eugene A Wood innocent while two other suspects including a prominent citizen are kept under observation.
Beginning today Boston hosts the Senators for five games in three days and a doubleheader at 1 45 PM. The series opens a tense stretch as league leaders visit and then the Athletics come for five more games in three days with two doubleheaders. A decisive seven-day window could decide Boston's pennant hopes before their West trip.

The Empress of Ireland and Red Star Hannover collided early morning in the St Lawrence near Farther Point. About 1200 aboard the Empress of Ireland are feared lost with rescue boats dispatched. Empress of Ireland had left Quebec for Liverpool with 77 first class, 206 second class, and 504 third class passengers. Hannover was en route from Rotterdam to Montreal. passenger numbers not given.
