The peaceful dock strike in London took a tense turn as a striker manifesto denounced police and soldiers aiding employers. It warned government action could trigger extreme measures and imperil the peaceful conduct of the dispute.
Hundreds of tons of meat were unloaded by volunteers under police protection. A secret strike committee warned retaliation if troops were used, threatening Royal Mail stoppages amid fears of a national strike and diversions of London ships. Instructions were sent to four ports to refuse cargoes, with Thames pleasure steamers facing potential traffic suspensions.
Mrs. Nora Davis Farrar wife of the disgraced clergyman arrived in Philadelphia from England. Brothers Richard Harding Davis and Charles Belmont Davis met her at the pier. She declined to discuss future plans and said she would stay with Richard Harding Davis in Mount Kisco. The former chaplain was said to be in British Columbia.
Joseph H O Leary age 12 months son of Daniel O Leary of 28 Courtland street Everett was crushed to death under an ice wagon while playing near the wheels with his brother Vincent aged 5 and other children. The driver Sandy Watson of the Fells Ice Company Malden moved the child into the house and he died. no blame attached to the driver.
Unofficial chatter suggested if the trolley merger bill passes, Lucius Storrs of Springfield may become a vice president of the New York New Haven Hartford railroad and oversee the company’s trolley lines.
Chester Jordan, who killed his wife Honora over three years ago, slept peacefully last night unaware that the Supreme Court denied his appeal for a new trial. Unless Gover or Foss commutes his sentence, he faces the electric chair.
No official word reached East Cambridge jail on the appeal outcome as Jordan remains confined. His lawyers announce plans to press on with a Governor Foss commutation request while District Attorney Higgins prepares resentencing actions and Judge Stevens may return to East Cambridge to pass sentence.

In Santiago on May 27, Generals Estenez and Ivonez declared they will press the rebellion against the United States and all odds until the Morua law is repealed, defying U S resources of men arms and money.
The insurgents Estenez and Ivonez command 1500 men with 500 armed and vow to exact war contributions from planters and railroads or burn property. They claim no party on racial lines exists and allege offers from the Cuban government to refrain from action were refused. General Estenez has sent a key communication to President Gomez outlining the crisis.
Former American Consul General at Havana argues the United States should keep out, stating Cuba has not forfeited its right to freedom and self rule. The May 27 dispatch notes ongoing tensions as Cuba pursues independence amidst external pressure.
