Elizabeth Wells daughter of Senator Wellington Wells of Back Bay receives a marriage license at City Hall. She plans to wed the son of banker Fitzgerald as friends cheer and peers vote in her favor.
Miss Elizabeth D. Wells of 171 Bay State road daughter of State Senator Wellington Wells filed intentions to marry William F. Fitzgerald Jr a 22 year old student at the City Hall annex but then said the ceremony would not go forward, claiming it was a joke inspired by her friends.

Edith Stone, 17, of 338 Broadway Malden cries after learning her husband Wendall M Peaslee was arrested in Portland Missouri on a bigamy charge. The case marks a claimed marriage to Peaslee while already married.
In Chicago divorce court Mrs Edward J Hand testified her husband a La Salle street broker dressed in best clothes every Saturday night claiming he would go fishing He never owned tackle and never came home with a fish The wife said the tale sounded fishy as he began carrying a revolver and a sheriff badge to deter interference
Patrolman Franklin ONeil and Patrolman Mark Cleary nabbed Dasher, the fleet-footed dog who escaped from the Black Maria two days earlier. They spotted the dog on Clark street and used a rope noose and firm grip to secure him, delivering the captured animal to the Animal Rescue League.

Peter Ventura proprietor of a 101 Broadway Somerville fruit store was beaten and robbed by a four man gang late last night. Two guards waited outside while two entered the shop. A revolver was pressed to Ventura’s head and an empty tonic bottle was broken over him. They took $40 from the cash drawer and $3 from Ventura’s pocket before fleeing.
George Custance, once linked to City Transfer Co, was arrested by Inspectors Dorsey and Haggerty. He faces court today over two bad checks from National Shawmut Bank of Boston, one for 24 50 to M P Manufacturing for trousers and another for 26 80 to Henry M Cormly for flowers. The first check bore L L Thompson as signer and dated May 23, the second Philbrick dated May 24.
John F. Gallagher of 20 Curtis street East Boston started a blaze while oiling Lynn streets yesterday afternoon by tossing a lit cigarette to the ground. He rolled to extinguish the flames but suffered severe burns to his right arm leg and neck and was hospitalized.
In Boston's Back Bay a disturbance at 246 Commonwealth Avenue led to the firing of two chorus girls from the Last Waltz company. Eleanor Lazon and Marie Le von, both said to be cast members, reportedly suffered severe beating after a wild party tied to Miss Geneva Mitchell's Sally musical.
Washington May 2 The House defeated a bid to force action on the Woodruff Johnson resolution seeking a probe of war fraud and lax prosecution. Speaker Gillett blocked the measure arguing privilege. Johnson appealed but the House sustained the Speaker 149 to 114 and tabbed the appeal, ending the effort.

Miss Alice EB Morse a 17 year old South Weymouth girl awaits Lawrhve Hewitt who failed to appear at their planned Thursday 7 pm wedding in Boston. She believes he may have met with an accident and local hospitals were contacted to locate him. He had come to Boston to buy his wedding suit.
In Fall River Johnny Darcey stopped Jimmy Frazzetti in five rounds. In Worcester Willie Stanton beat Dick Russell in six. In Lowell Willie Gravwell defeated Puggy Morton in ten. Rhode Island federal court ruling by Judge Arthur L. Brown orders warrants in liquor prosecutions to describe both premises to be searched and property to be seized. District Attorney Case will review pending warrants and quash those defective per the opinion.
