London rejoiced as Hawker and Grieve were rescued an hour and a half after their plane went down eight hundred miles off Ireland. The ship had no wireless, and the aviators faced peril at sea. Mrs Hawker clung to hope that her husband would be found. The incident follows the day’s sensational pages in the Boston Post.

Hawker reports his machine halted due to a blocked water filter in the feed pipe from radiator to the water pump, caused by refuse like solder in the radiator. Rolls-Royce remained faultless. landing on the sea, rescued by the Mary after 90 minutes afloat. The crew plans to leave Thurso at 2 pm Monday, arrive London Tuesday evening.

A St Johns broadcast reports a Sopwith aircraft from May 18 was forced to land 1100 miles out and 800 miles from Ireland. The crew faced feed-tunnel refuser issues, the plane floated after an hour and a half in the water, and it was taken aboard the Danish steamer Mary before the Sopwith was abandoned.
Missing for six days after attempting an unprotected Atlantic crossing, British aviator Harry G Hawker and navigator Lieutenant Commander MacKenzie Grieve are rescued and aboard a British warship off the Orkneys. They are to reach the mainland tomorrow.
