Hatch accused his accusers of false arrest and outlined forged death proofs and administrator bonds in related Boston forgery claims. He remains a fugitive from justice.
The Berkshire Musical Society opened its May festival with a morning public rehearsal and an afternoon session. The Coliseum hosted the grand opening concert with 1500 attendees from Springfield Albany and Troy. Hoffman's Melusina featured a 200 voice chorus with soloists Jennie Patrick Walker Gardner Lampson Gertrude Edmands and R M Davenport and the Boston Festival Orchestra. The program also highlighted Silas R Malls bass Victor Herbert cello and a fine orchestral performance praised for artistry and execution. The opening concert proved both artistically and financially successful. A concert by the orchestra is set for tomorrow afternoon followed by the closing concert led by Clementina de Vere.
Yale athlete W. B. Wright Jr. shaved 21 seconds from the school half-mile record, clocking 2m 11 53. The Yale 92 broke the former 2m 32 6s set by Hinckley in 1889, and Wright is slated to run the half-mile at the Mott Haven games.
