Harvard Students Die After Opium Smoking At Cosmos Club
Three Harvard College students Leland Weld and Mills visited the Cosmos Club at 274 Boylston and obtained opium from Nicholas Gentleman. They smoked in Mills’s Cambridge room from 1 a.m. until dawn. Mills died in convulsions. Leland and Weld were critically ill. Gentleman was arrested at 82 Warrenton street. A prior Cosmos Cin rooms raid failed to seize gambling apparatus.
