London Financial Patchwork and Market Notes May 15

London markets firm but easy with plenty of money supply. Trade reports from Manchester show a quiet but firm market. Liverpool breadstuffs and provisions move down slightly while sugar coffee and linseed oil trend upward. Confederate and American securities listed with mixed discounts. Steamship Asia Arrives Halifax to Boston Run

The steamship Asia commanded by Capt Moody arrived at Halifax at midnight after leaving Liverpool on the 14th and Queenstown on the 15th, continuing to Boston. She carries 70 Halifax and 76 Boston passengers and reports encounters with other vessels near Liverpool, with various naval developments and political debate in Britain over Confederate privateers and armistice terms.

War News From Fredericksburg And Rappahannock

The Arago arrives with 380 wounded. About 3000 wounded remain in Fredericksburg, many slated to move. Guerillas pursued contrabands crossing the Rappahannock near Falmouth, but were checked. About 100 contrabands from Bowling Green and Guinney's Station escaped with women and children. Gunboats patrol the river. 600 wounded arrive aboard the Connecticut. Keyport leaks after hitting an obstruction. Roughly 1000 wounded officers have been reported to the Medical Director.

Richmond Whig reports Wickham brigade losses eight officers and 56 enlisted killed, 24 officers and 213 enlisted wounded, 2 missing. Lomax brigade losses nine officers and 23 enlisted killed, 17 officers and 139 enlisted wounded, 12 officers and 122 enlisted missing. Division total 780. Brig. Gen. Gordon dies from wounds near Richmond.

Connecticut Heavy Artillery Arrives En Route Home

About 350 members of the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery reach Fortress Monroer en route for home after muster out. Some have reenlisted while the regiment maintains its organization. The unit reports nine attacks on enemy trenches repulsed each time.
