Boston and Providence Battle Ends In Draw On South End Grounds
A championship game between Boston and Providence drew six to eight hundred spectators on Wednesday. Ward limited the Bostons, Bond pitched well, and Powers handled his duties despite a sore hand. Providence opened with an unearned run, Boston tied and pulled ahead in the sixth with Morrill’s left field homer. In the late innings Providence threatened to tie but could not, and the game was declared a draw after ten innings as darkness approached.
