A long line at Litchfield’s Cambridge undertakers viewed the body of a woman pulled from the Charles River near Harvard Bridge. Many suspects examined clothing and a fob bearing Thayer McNeil Hodgkins 60 3869 406 to locate a match, but identification remained elusive.
The Senate rejected proposed amendments to the firemen 12 hour bill and voted 29 to 14 to recall the measure to the Governor. Governor Bates signaled a likely veto while open to a compromise on days off, with five days left for action after two hearings held yesterday.
James J. Jeffries and James J. Corbett signed articles for a scheduled fight in San Francisco around August 19 at the Yosemite Club. The match will award 70 percent of gross receipts to the winner and the referee will be named two weeks before the bout.

Mark Bartels of 165 Boylston Street reports his three year old son Louis wandered from home yesterday afternoon. Louis, described large for his age with light hair and complexion, wore a red and white striped blouse, gray pants, black stockings and shoes. He was missing as of last night.
Hartwell Stafford and Miss Etta L. MacLean wed quietly after he shot at Stillman M. Bishop in Head Place Edison Electric Light office. Stafford, released on bail, says he acted to protect the woman's honor. Bishop persists in pursuing the match despite the marriage.
