The White Cross Milk Company was found guilty by a Superior Court jury of possessing milk to which water had been added. Prosecutors argued the watered milk, created by removing nutritive parts in Vermont and shipping the residue to Boston, constituted an offence. The defense claimed the added substance was not milk, but the jury rejected that claim.

London crowds lined Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall as Edward VII's coffin moved by gun carriage. The late king will lie in state at Westminster Hall until Friday before burial at Windsor and interment in St George's Chapel vault and the Albert Memorial Chapel tomb.
Brief services at Buckingham Palace attended only by royal family members were led by the bishop of London. The archbishop of Canterbury received the body at Westminster Hall, where soldiers bore it to a purple catafalque beneath a white and gold pall with royal insignia. By 4 pm the hall doors opened to the public, and about 50,000 people waited in line, mostly in black, many with flowers.
