Fire threats persist in Fall River as incendiary tries again

In Fall River at 12:45 a.m. an oil-soaked cushion was placed between two wooden buildings on Plymouth avenue to start a blaze. Workers Daily and Gray extinguished it, finding oil scents, a bottle and broken bottle at the scene, near a previously troubled incendiary area. A second alarm at 7:30 p.m. reported a closet fire on Pleasant street in the Concert Hall building owned by Wordell and McGuire. investigators doubt an arson link, but officials remain wary.

Schooner Alice Belle Grounded in Ocean City Reach

The three masted schooner Alice Belle Captain Chadwick from Gardiner Maine to Ocean City New Jersey with ice grounded on the outer north bar yesterday while attempting to enter the harbor. Life saving crews from Ocean City and Longport boarded to refloat her but failed. She lies hard aground and partly filled with water, believed to be a total loss.
