Disagreement between Halleck and Hooker over a return train
The New York Post reports a serious disagreement between Halleck and Hooker as a bridal party awaits the Elmira train returning a regiment. A bride-to-be waited to wed the Colonel, but he arrived dead, shocking mourners amid the somber scene. Religious revivals gain momentum in several New York towns. King Victor Emmanuel reportedly contracted a Morganatic marriage granting a Countess de Miraflores title, dulling public perception of the monarch.
