Boston machinists in nine hour day dispute announce a strike starting Saturday May 18. Reports show 600 workers may be affected across railroad shops. 150 already joined with more applications as meetings proceed. Local organizers Madden and Walsh treble up shop presence.
News of Agnes Booth Schoeffel, famed actress and Tremont Theatre wife of manager Schoeffel, being thrown from a carriage proved unfounded. She was bruised after slipping on steps at Commonwealth Golf Club house, injuring her left wrist and receiving other bruises.
May Duryea actress sues Dr John F Harvey to recover alleged balance from a Boston office sale tied to the late Dr William Langdon Simpson. Hearing set next Tuesday. The case follows revelations of the Simpson estate and prior transfers at 3 Beacon Street in Boston.

At Albany on May 16 a street railway strike escalated into violence with a militia crackdown. One man, William Walsh, died from a militia bullet, another, Leroy Smith, was fatally wounded, and William Marshall was critically injured. General Roe ordered 800 troops, total militia over 3000, as negotiations between strikers and Traction Company continued. The strikers waived demands against nine non union men. city officials prepared for possible settlement as the Ninth Infantry arrived tomorrow afternoon.
