This morning attorney J. P. Goodhart filed a $5000 damages suit for Charles Schlagel a Fairhaven baker alleging permanent injury after being struck by a Morris Cove Electric Road car on December 16. The case is returnable at the June term of the Superior Court and is the first suit against the company.
David Hender son, aged 65, committed suicide in Brockton by shooting himself in the head with a .32 revolver. He had lived in Worcester for two years and visited his sister Mrs Cyrus B Kingman at 103 Summer Street before the fatal act. Poor health was noted as a contributing factor.
Myrtle docked at Edgartown tonight due to a fierce storm. Major W R Livermore of the United States engineer corps is aboard. The vessel has been conducting surveys for a new lighthouse at Cape Pogue.
The Clerical organ Magyr Allam asserts that the government promised Louis Kossuth an annuity of 25 000 francs in return for urging his followers to back the Liberal cabinet of Dr. Wekerle.

Commodore Malcolm Forbes sails his new auxiliary steam yacht the Wild Duck from Boston to Montreal and then to Chicago with relatives and friends for the World’s Fair plan. Andrew J. Jennings and Dr. John H. Abbott visited Medical Examiner Dolan at his South Main street home to view the Borden skulls cut from the victims and photographed for government use. Springfield dispatch reports the death of 45 year old Rev. Father Everest Pelletier pastor of the French Catholic Church in Chicopee. Born in Yamachiche Quebec he studied at the University of Nacolet and served in Rome as a soldier to the Pope. He previously served in Worcester Ware Mittineague and Chicopee.
A May 8 1893 petition from about five hundred Boston taxpayers and firms seeks early completion and improvement of Commonwealth avenue. Signed by prominent city business and social leaders, the document urges municipal action.
In New York on May 16, 1500 people were isolated at Hoffman and Swinburne Islands amid smallpox fears. At Swinburne 400 steerage passengers exposed on the Gera and Lahn were reinforced by 1500 others to remain in observation for at least fourteen days. May 16 Amesbury announces Mr. and Mrs. Asa Cowden observed their sixty fifth wedding anniversary. He is 86, she 85, born in Pelham New Hampshire. They met in the town, have seven children of whom four survive, and both enjoy good health with Mr. Cowden active in the Masons as the oldest member.
In Beaver yesterday morning burglars tried to dynamite the Beaver Deposit Bank outer safe but only the outer compartment opened. The inner safe holding over $20 000 in cash and securities withstood the blast. thieves escaped with about $200 in silver. No clues found. The bank, nicknamed Senator Quay's Bank, is Beaver County's oldest financial institution.
A $95,000 attachment against West Superior Iron and Steel Company was granted by Judge Andrews for Atlantic Trust Company trustee of Cecile B. Griffith. Copies were served on Central Trust Company and Knickerbocker Trust Company.
Timothy Dunn a one legged small time shopkeeper at Shawmut avenue married a young woman in March and started housekeeping at Jefferson street. His wife, with intemperate habits, quarreled often. She died suddenly at five after an overnight illness in the store chair, her body sent to Jones’s on Lagrange street awaiting kin from Lowell.
Mary Langley aged 27 of 55 North Russell Street was arrested yesterday afternoon on a Division 3 warrant for threatening bodily harm to her husband James M. Langley.
Division 4 officers arrested 37 year old Frank Nesbitt yesterday afternoon for conducting a policy shop at the corner of Warrenton street and Shawmut avenue.
