Cambridge Plans Two Day Jubilee May 50th Anniversary

Cambridge marks its fiftieth anniversary with a two day programme on June 2 and 3. The event opens with school addresses at Sanders Theatre and public meetings in the evening. On June 3 a morning salute on Cambridge Common, athletic events at Cambridge field and Rindge field, a procession starting at Third Street East Cambridge, and a 3:30 p.m. banquet at Union Hall followed by a City Hall reception. The Washington elm will be reviewed, and the City Hall tower will be illuminated May 4 to June 3.

Conn man arraigned in matricide case in Durham

Clarence C. Murphy was arraigned before Justice John Marshall on murder charges for his mother Ellen Murphy. He pleaded not guilty at the request of counsel. The case was continued to next Wednesday at 10 o'clock. E Culver led the State and A B Calef represented the prisoner.

Massive blaze destroys Maverick Oil works in Chelsea Street rear

Fire crews fought three-alarm inferno at Maverick Oil Company and East Boston Gas Company near Chelsea Bridge. 150 gasoline drums fed flames that scorched barges, damaged the Rebecca Shepherd and coal shed, with $35,000 estimated damage. Driver James Burg injured. Flaherty hospitalized after ladder truck mishap.

At Louisville Kentucky on May 15 the program completed six furlongs with Lucille H winning and Mozilla runner up, time 1 15. Lady Inez led the one mile Ss race finishing first with Simor W second and Ida Pickwick third, time 1 40 and a half. Rosinante captured the four furlongs race with Lady Rover second and Nellie Baker third, time 49 seconds. Anna Lyle won the fourth race at one mile with Rasper and Lester third, time 1 41 and a half. Harvard Crew Replaces Bow Man After Time Trial

Harvard crew conducted a Charles River time trial yesterday afternoon with coaching dissatisfaction. Moulton was moved from bow to substitute G S Derby from the senior crew, a former university substitute two years ago. The team plans Hudson training at Poughkeepsie in June, basing at Turned Elbow opposite the four mile start above the Poughkeepsie bridge.
