Reds Triumph In Ninth Series Win Over Boston

Cincinnati won 4 to 1 at League Park to complete a three game series sweep of Boston. Long Bob Ewing pitched superbly limiting the Red Sox to four singles with one walk, while Cecil Ferguson held Cincinnati at bay until timely hits by Kane and Mitchell. Ferguson left the game after eight as Cincinnati tightened defense with Cy Young finishing the last inning. Boston’s only major threats were erased by Sweeney’s standout plays and Ferguson’s baserunner containment.
