William Shaw of Ballardvale was unanimously nominated as the Prohibition party candidate for governor at a Kingsley Hall convention. About 150 delegates cheered the nomination, many women among the attendees and visiting Prohibitionists applauded for several minutes.
Mr Shaw accepts the gubernatorial nomination conditioned on an unequivocal prohibition plank in both state and national platforms. The convention adopts the full platform with planks on suffrage, taxation reform, government control of utilities, and opposition to capital punishment. Shaw emphasizes serving the principle over personal gain and Massachusetts’ role in enforcing prohibition.
A speaker pledges to withdraw from the race unless a major party adopts a firm prohibition plank at state and national levels. Allies from other parties join to push the principle, warning liquor interests will mount a desperate fight to influence the governor race.
A speech argues that money spent on liquor harms industry and taxes, urging prohibition as vital in the campaign. It claims liquor fuels false reporting and violence, cites Russia's productivity during prohibition, and stresses considering all planks for citizens’ prosperity and efficient government.

The steel freighter F. M. Osborne from Bay City bound for coal and the freighter Valcar tier laden with grain collided just above Port Huron Michigan in Lake Huron. The impact caused both vessels to sink shortly after, but the crews were saved.
