Boston linemen announce a nine hour day protest and call out union men across New England for Boston Edison style actions. The Boston committee says Lowell hosted the launch and firms struggle to hire replacements as service declines on the Boston Elevated line.
Uncontested divorce petitions were heard yesterday before Judge Fox in Suffolk County. Cases include Robert W. Banks and Annie J. Banks, Andrew and Clara Gunning, and John Was, with decrees nisi granted for several parties amid claims of separation and desertion.
Charles W. Trow aged 67 died suddenly while about to begin his night shift as a linotype operator at the Truston Globe. He was born in Cambridge and had long service in printing, with Civil War service. John Croil Ryan of Boston died at City Hospital about 7 PM of pneumonia, aged 3?
Howard Gould today settled in full the claim of Katherine Clemmons Gould for gowns ordered in March. The dressmakers had sued for 123 dollars, but the settlement through his lawyer amounts to 1160 dollars, covering the claim and court costs to avoid further attendance in court during warm weather.
After a protracted session the local division employees of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company voted to quit work next Saturday morning unless a nine hour day and a minimum rate of three dollars per day are granted. R. R. Bradford, business agent of Boston Union, spoke at the meeting. Bradford will travel to Lawrence and Haverhill tomorrow.
Police raided 2 Harrison Avenue at around 8 last night arresting fourteen men including Boston's most prominent Celestials. They face gambling charges and possession of gambling instruments found at the scene.

Dr Johnson on the slate for president of the Republican city committee amid factional shifts. The meeting called by Vice-President Russell at Wesleyan Hall will elect a president secretary and possibly a treasurer and vice president. Resignations from Cocter and Frothingham and hopeful move by Roswell are noted as a critical shift. The so called campaign committee or strategy board faces potential disbanding amid past abuses of patronage and proposed city employee purges.
London May 17 Leyland line shareholders unanimously approved the Morgan-Ollerman agreement. After presiding Mattinson outlined terms, the American side appeared hesitant on Atlantic trade prospects. Elermah chairman emphasized cautious hope for shipowners amid the cross Atlantic venture.
