Whalers Buy Vessels at Mystic and New London

Eleanor a 301 ton whaler and Highlander a 270 ton vessel were purchased at Mystic for whaling use. Brig Emma of 181 tons was bought at New London for a whaler operation.

American Home Missionary Society Yearly Report 1845

The society employed 943 gospel ministers this year, with 209 added since the last anniversary. Missionaries served 23 states and territories plus Canada and Texas, supporting 1,285 congregations. The ministry strength exceeds last year by 36, treasury balance April 15, 1844 was $217.54, receipts for the year $121,946.28, total resources $122,163.82, leaving a year end balance of $5,803.70.
