Susie Morris Confesses Fires In Olneyville House

Providence May 6 Susie Morris a 14 year old girl confined for arson speaks softly to a Post reporter in a police cell narrating how she started fires last Friday and Saturday in the McCaffrey house Olneyville. She blames nagging aunt and says she never meant harm. The fires began in a cellar and later in a kindling wood box as investigators suspect jealous entry by neighborhood youths.

Endicott Dies. Former Secretary of War in Cleveland Cabinet

The Hon. William Crowninshield Endicott died at his Newbury Street home of pneumonia after a two day illness. He leaves a son and daughter, Mrs. Joseph Chamberlain, and may be attended by ex President Cleveland. Interment will be in Salem. Endicott, born 1826 in Salem, served in Congress, on the Supreme Court, and as Secretary of War, where he organized seacoast defenses. He married Ellen Peabody in 1891 and left a legacy as a lawyer and public servant.

Death of Suffolk Sheriff O'Brien in City Home

Joh B O'Brien sheriff of Suffolk county died at his city home yesterday at 3 pm from cerebral hemorrhage after a lengthy illness due to a complication of diseases. Family members stayed by his bedside as his condition worsened last week with the death final at hand.

Severe fighting at Warrenton reported in May clash

Sunday’s engagement near Warrenton lasted from morning until 4 pm. British forces suffered five killed and twenty-five wounded, mostly Welsh Fusileers, and captured prisoners including a Swedish ambulance crew. Boers left thirteen dead and retreated as General Paget pressed an east of bridge assault.
