Calvert was on a Baltimore Port Antonio fruit voyage when sunk April 8 outside Port Antonio by the Alpine.

Thomas O'Brien, 22, a hustler, was stabbed late Saturday near Fabin Street after visiting several saloons. He lodges at Mrs. Greeley’s, 12 Fabin Street, and was taken to City Hospital with a serious arm wound. Police arrested Thomas Coleman and Michael Hogan. O'Brien attributed the blow to a negro but gave no details.

Police officer Patrick H. McDevitt aged 32 of the second division died at City hospital on Sunday morning from paralysis of the heart. Appointed May 25, 1874, he served in divisions 10 5 and 2 and recently stood at the Tre mont and Beacon streets crossing. Funeral from 53 Cabot Street Boston Highlands on Wednesday May at 8 30 A M.
