Archbishop Corrigan Dead after pneumonia in New York

Archbishops death reported at 11:20 PM following a pneumonia attack. Fatty degeneration of the heart diagnosed as the cause. Born in 1840, Michael Augustine Corrigan served as a leading clergyman, with nurses and priests present. death followed a long illness, including injuries from a cathedral construction incident earlier that year.

Squiers named minister to Cuba and Bragg consul general

H G Squiers secretary of the legation at Pekin chosen as minister to Cuba. General E S Bragg of Wisconsin selected as consul general at Havana. Squiers, a Canada native, had diplomatic service in Berlin and Pekin and helped defend legations during the Boxer uprising. Bragg was born in Unadilla New York in 1827 and rose to brigadier general. Washington May 5. Manila report recalls 84 Moro prisoners killed while escaping, with 40 fleeing. Captain Moore wounded, surgeons plan trepanation. Lt Vicars buried at Malabang. others alive sought to be saved.

Miss Doris Lawson daughter of copper magnate Thomas W. Lawson had a frightful runaway on Commonwealth avenue yesterday afternoon. F L Ames's coachman leaped from the box and restrained the horse, saving Miss Lawson from injury. she remained unhurt though shaken, and was driven home.

Answer Filed In Merger Suit Describes Northern Securities

In St Paul on May 6 the Northern Securities Company filed an answer in the United States Circuit Court. The document characterizes the enterprise as aiding interstate and international commerce. Chaffee Publishes Full Casualty List From Bayan Battle

General Chaffee cabled the War Department a detailed casualty roll from the Bayan Mindanao engagement on May 2. Killed are Lieut. Thomas A. Vickers and several privates and corporals. wounded include Major S. Porter, Captain J. Moore, Lt. Wagner, Sgt. Wheaton, and many others from the Twenty-seventh Infantry, with numerous named units and ranks.
