McComas Defends Anti Gerrymander Bill for Mississippi River Funds
In Washington May 4 the House passed a joint resolution approving 1,000,000 for Mississippi River improvements from head of passes to the Ohio. The House discussed foreign relations and tariff policy, with advocacy for a vigorous protectionist stance and a reform of the diplomatic system. The report on the gerrymandering bill argued it would curb district abuses, while a minority warned it would shift the practice to the national stage.
