Ambush II Wins Grand National at Liverpool

The Prince of Wales's Ambush II won the grand national steeplechase on the second day of the spring meeting in Liverpool. The race carried a stake of 12,500 with 900 sovereigns to the second and 200 to the third. About fourteen horses ran the four mile race.

Carruths and McCarthys Vying City League Title

At Arruths Alleys fans watched a tied City League big pin race end with Carruths taking the title after two decisive wins. McCarthy, closing strong, finished second with Boylston edging Sudbury for third as scores reached 904 for McCarthy in the final game.

Bicyclenotes Two Bicycle Bills Reported in Legislature

Almost a Murder at 5 Adams Place

Police reported a violent clash between Charles Hampton and Rose Miller in Hampton’s home. The 36 year old man and 28 year old housekeeper fought with a club and flatiron, leaving both unconscious and covered in blood. Dr. Thompson treated scalp wounds, both were jailed.

Crews for Paris for Amateur Oarsmen Exposition

The National Association of Amateur Oarsmen will send twenty one men to Paris this summer to compete in international rowing races.
