Chicago March 29. A clash between striking switchmen supporters and replacement workers on a Q engine led to cars ditched and several Pinkerton guards injured. One man, William Quirk, arrested at West Madison station, sparks a mass departure of Milwaukee and St. Paul crew. Authorities dispersed the mob. tensions rise as unions vow to pressure Burlington.
Charles E. Cross president and Samuel C. White cashier of the National Bank at Raleigh North Carolina were arrested in Toronto on charges of forgery. Hidden inside Cross and Whites coats were sums totaling $24,714. The Raleigh State National Bank was suspended with directors stating assets are being turned over to federal officers and that other Raleigh banks remain unaffected.

The Emperor’s voice suffered from a recent treatment, prompting a pause. American minister Pendleton sends sorrowful tribute for William’s death and respect for Frederick. Amnesty delays persist but pardoned prisoners will be freed for Easter time with families. He plans to award Dr Mackenzie with an autograph letter and imperial decoration.

In Buonanrat opposition presses blame public belief in a Austria Romania military convention. The convention allegedly dates from Gastein. the king signed, the premier refused.
