Tucson Arizona March 29 Judge I Mc Comas and his wife were killed by Apaches at Thompson canyon 18 miles east of Lordsburg New Mexico Their son accompanied them and is believed captured Judge McComas belonged to the firm Mc Comas and Mchegean of St Louis His wife was sister of Senator Ware of Kansas There is word of a clash between troops and hostiles in the Whetstone mountains with report of a troop defeat Benson residents condemn troop handling and urge a tougher government policy.
A rumor from Mexico says five Americans who traveled to inland Mexico to buy stock were murdered in their camp near Saltillo. In Lordsburg New Mexico a massacre scene yields Mrs McComas shot through the head beside a buck board, stripped. Judge McComas found nearby shot in four places and naked. their boy is missing.
In Panama on March 9 the Nicaraguan government received cables asking acceptance of the U S canal contract as modified by Congress but said it cannot proceed without congressional authorization. The Corvenir, Nicaragua’s oldest paper, opposes the modification and urges safeguards under the Clayton Bulwer treaty to shield the nation.
A large audience gathered at Hawthorne rooms on Park street last evening to hear Miss Adela Rankin. Introduced by Rev. Dr. Duryea she spoke in defiance of doctors wishes due to a severe cold yet delivered most of her programme to enthusiastic applause.

Salem officers arrested a colored man who gave the name G. W. Westley on suspicion of involvement in the Carlton murder. He initially denied knowledge, then admitted knowing Carlton and loafing around the saloon. He claimed to have been at Father Taylor's bathhouse the night of the murder and said he is a cook seeking work bound for Gloucester. after examination District one Officer L. A. Manning ordered his release.
