Marcus Morton, at the Van Buren meeting in Faneuil Hall, pledged support for Van Buren and the Buffalo platform before the assembly. He publicly urged Van Buren and Adams for president and vice president while privately writing to Washington alleging the movement was a Cass ploy, yet he remained Boston port collector.
