Prophecy of a Plastic Stage for American Theater
Professor George P. Baker at the Lowell Institute foresees major stage changes within ten years. He argues for a revolving and elevator stage, minimal backdrops, and advanced lighting to emulate distance. He cites German examples, discusses wagoned sets, elevated or lowered scenes, and a steel horizon with stars for realistic skies.
