Salem March 27 In a murder trial John C Best may learn his fate tomorrow The defense led by James H Sisk pleads for life while Attorney General Knowlton prepares the prosecution summary The judge will charge the jury after closing arguments and the verdict awaits.
Defence argues no gunshots on Oct 8 1900 killed George Bailey and that John C Best was sleeping and intoxicated. Prosecution maintains Win gpe rifle fired the shots and Best carried remains in a democrat wagon to Floating Bridge Pond. The case hinges on whether Best killed Bailey with malice aforethought on oct 8 1900.
Washington reports Aguinaldo, Filipino leader, has been captured in Manila after General Frederick Funston blindsided his hiding place in Isa Bella Lauzon. The capture signals a collapse of the insurrection as Wickebure gunboat ferried Aguinaldo and Funston to Manila with EB Barry aboard.
