The Irish History Lecture on England and Ireland
A Sunday lecture at Music Hall by Dion Boucicault outlined Ireland’s history as divided into four eras from pre Norman times to the Union of 1800. He described England’s land and church grabs and the Protestant ascendancy as mechanisms of conquest and oppression, ending with the Union and the Land League debate.
