Carnegie Donates Three Worcester Branch Libraries

Andrew Carnegie funded three Worcester branch libraries as Corners tones were laid in South Worcester Quinsigamond and Greendale. Carnegie and Mrs. Carnegie arrived at 2 11 p m to a ready city and delivered short addresses.

Carnegie Grants 75000 For Worcester Library Network

At a Worcester ceremonial cornerstone laying Mayor Wright and officials welcomed Andrew Carnegie who gave 75000 for three branch libraries. One third funded each building with Worcester providing sites and crowds gathered at South Worcester Quinsigamond and Greendale. The Carnegies left at 5 02 for New York.

Railroad Traffic Halted by Flood Zone Delays

Chicago March 26 trains between the East and West were disrupted as many railroads annulled schedules. Trains arrived hours late while attempting to force through the flooded zones in Ohio and Indiana, severing rapid rail communication.

The high water disrupted rail traffic with the Big Four Monon Erie and Chesapeake and Ohio canceling schedules. Pennsylvania and Baltimore and Ohio plan two daily Chicago to New York trains using intact Lake Shore Michigan Southern tracks in Ohio. Many roads halted, bridges and roadbeds washed away, conditions worse than yesterday as crests seem to hold in some areas.
