Major blaze hits 93 Federal Street causing heavy loss
A three alarm fire on 93 Federal Street began around 4 AM in the bookbindery of G K Abbott & Co and spread rapidly through the block. Firefighters fought from two sides with aerial ladders and Siamese hoses as roofs burned and flames swept to adjacent buildings. Total loss estimated at 75 000. Buildings occupied by Boston Mailing Co J P Cash & Co Lenton Manufacturing N R Cann S K Abbott & Co and W S Best Co. Fire under control by 6 AM.
