Collision at 398 West First Street Leaves Woman Dead

In South Boston a wall collapse during tearing down an old stable injured James Goodman and killed Margaret Devon age six. Over twenty bystanders narrowly escaped. Goodman survived with head and face injuries and is expected to recover. Mrs. Devon died under a falling girder and was taken to her home at 81 Dove Street.

Portland Man Supposed to Jump from Steamer Port land

A man using the name Nason L. Eaton booked a stateroom on the steamer Portland in Boston for Portland Missouri. His room was entered to find Eaton’s coat hat cuffs and two pocketbooks including a $160 check and a sealed letter to Mrs N L Eaton of Malden. A note requested forwarding his effects to that address. It is believed he jumped from the window during the voyage.

Illness Halts Willard Tour and Stage Plans

A Willard company member reports actor E. S. Willard is gravely ill with typhoid fever and nervous complications. He has cancelled this season's dates and abandoned his opening tour at Hoyt's Theatre next September. Friends doubt he can perform for months or ever return to the stage, and he plans to go to Italy when health permits.

Heroic Rescue At City Point Involves Two Local Men

Robert Steadman of 611 East Eighth Street plunged into the bay near City Point to save Thomas McNeil of 97 Hudson Street. McNeil, who attempted suicide, fought Steadman but was brought ashore and taken to City Hospital for recovery. The Humane Society was notified by police of Steadman's act.
