Palmer & Bachelder Open Store On Washington Street

Palmer and Bachelder reopen at 200 Washington Street in the Sargent estate building. The 30 by 220 foot retail space features a central skylight, two distinct blocks, ornate maple woodwork, argyrine blue fittings, rosewood showcases, and a brick vault system with moving cases designed by Damon and the American Steam Safe Company. The store, heated by steam with a Bromfield gas lighting system, blends safety and display for wholesale and retail trade with a two foot higher ceiling and visible sky to aid judging of articles.
