James B. Johnson of St. Joseph Missouri shot himself on the Union depot platform in Denver. Once a two store operator, he spent much time in St Joseph with partners in Utah and Colorado ventures, and confessed to feloniously shipping goods before his death while en route with Mr Van Nalta to transfer stores to indemnify the firm. He was married and held a high social position.
In Winneconne Wisconsin Friday night Rev Father Honeyman returned from absence and preached then attacked by three men. John McDonald defended himself as the priest leaped over the altar rail and rushed him. The crowd panicked with women screaming and robes torn before the riot subsided. The incident will be reported to the bishop.
A man who swindled veterans out of ten thousand dollars was freed from Lancaster jail and immediately re jailed by United States Commissioner Phil lips. He uses aliases including Capt J W Jenks Capt Thomas A Webb and Rev James Andrews. His true name is undisclosed. He is 50 and has operated in Indiana Pennsylvania New York and Ohio. He married multiple wealthy widows and took their property. He was committed for swindling a crippled soldier out of five dollars under the claim of securing an increased pension.

Newport Rhode Island March 22 John Wood a Rhode Island saloon keeper died suddenly at his cottage in James town under suspicious circumstances. His wife Mrs Wood is suspected after a post mortem found organs sealed for analysis. Wood carried between 41000 and 5000 dollars earlier and a despatch about her father dying raised further questions. Police swore out a warrant but it was not served and she fled to New York.
United States Marshal Atkinson and four deputies seized 20 Keystone Bridge Co employees including Superintendent Baird and took control of the bridge at Galliopolis. Western Union workers began wiring the span while warrants target telegraph workers as trespassers. A clash looms as state and federal actions collide over bridge control and telegraph installation.

In Meadville Pennsylvania six Valonia village children aged from about eight to ten went searching for sugar water. They tapped a tree with pocket knives and drank the juice. All fell ill with poisoning symptoms. George Dusty, 10, died and three others were beyond aid.
Syracuse police report Mrs Wm W Ransier shot her lover Adam Sutler while walking on a city street last night. Sutler urged to accompany her. she wished to part ways. He died at once.
