Arraignment and Fair Notes From Town Proceedings

Proceedings in police court recount the arraignment of a schoolmaster, with moralizing sketches of a four year old girl and a fourteen year old boy at a religious exercise, while a local fair at Music Hall raises about four thousand dollars for the Home for Incurables. The event features Mrs Cary with subscriptions, Ballou lecturing on Cuba, and Gilmore's Band, with the fair concluding Friday.

Legislature Advances Bills Amid Daily Sessions Plan

The Senate concurred with the House for two daily sessions after March 24. Bills passed include abolishing the Crier of Courts, amending specie holdings by banks, and a poll tax set at two dollars. A House resolve fixes $1000 per state almshouse for fire security, and the removal of insane convicts was rejected. Immigration head money from 1854 to 1859 shows a net $20,710.91. Berkshire Court schedule changes were rejected.

Hygienic Monitor March issue reviewed by Dr Hall

The Hygienic Monitor edited by Alfred G. Hall presents articles on medical theory and practice including The New Theory of Medical Practice and The Law of Waste and Replenishment.
