Ephraim Maxham and public mockery at his wedding

A midwestern wedding tale features Ephraim Maxham, ex-editor of the People's Press, mocked by a parish sermon as Ephraim is joined to his idols. The piece recalls other varied items from politics to daring women, including Wolfe Tone’s ally and a burglar attack during an ambassador’s absence, plus odd anecdotes from Olean and gossip about a California journey.
