A major blaze at Chautauqua Assembly grounds in Burraxo New York on Sunday night destroyed fifty five cottages. Loss is estimated at seventy five thousand dollars. The fire began in the attic of Mrs Brininstool s Jamestown residence on Summerfield avenue and spread rapidly through surrounding structures. The blaze swept from Miller Park to near the Hotel Atheneum and along Summerfield Simpson and Asbury avenues devastating cottages along the lake front except five.
Alarm from Box 64 at 8 36 yesterday morning reported a 25 fire in a closet of dwelling No 25 Motte street occupied by Solomon Bolsom. Origin of fire unknown.

Gloucester March 21 The business year closed March 10. Last year showed the heaviest losses in years with premium notes February 1 1886 totaling 109027 and losses and expenses 117616. An assessment on premium notes 8 percent added 8722. Current losses this year reach 25000.
Palestine Texas March 21 Colonel William H Martin of Henderson County was nominated tonight on the 272d ballot to succeed John H Reagan as Congressman.

In Brooklyn Supreme Court Clement Reed sues Clarke's Cove Guano Co Massachusetts for a royalty claim of 50 cents per ton on output. A powder factory near Negaunee Michigan exploded killing L H Stanley and his son Albert aged 18.
The schooner Royal Ar canwma from St John to New York sprang a leak off Cape Cod on the 19th and arrived today full of water. The schooner St Johns from Norfolk to Belfast had headgear carried away in a collision and arrived tonight. Brooklyn City steamer from New York arrived at Bristol today.
