Postponed trial for state constable in Everett shooting case

The examination of State Constable Hinckley charged with shooting Thomas McBench at Everett on Saturday 9th inst. was postponed to April 1 at Hinckley’s counsel request. Citizens of Malden and Everett denounce Trial Justice Bucknam of Stoneham for pressing the trial and fining McBench six dollars plus costs after he traveled about twenty miles in pain to return home and pay the fine.

City Council Proceedings and Budget Revisions Update

The council met with President Dickingson presiding. David H. M. Coolidge declined the City Hospital trusteeship. Elections for First Assistant Assessors favor Phineas B. Smith 11 to 23 for McIntosh. East Boston Ferries directors named Gibson and Hopkins. Finance committee proposes changes raising East Boston care to 210000, removing two ferry drops at North Ferry for 40000, Lunatic Hospital to 63000, increase income by 252,000 from unpaid taxes and 5000 for sewers raising total appropriations to 2,327,205.
