Morgan to Race Columbia in European Waters?
The Yachting World cheers J Pierpont Morgan possibly racing the Columbia off European shores. It argues a successful series would settle if British challengers sail at a disadvantage off Sandy Hook and whether the Shamrock with a changed gaff plan is faster. It urges the Royal Yacht Squadron to offer a trophy to force a decision.

FIA NAMES TRAINS TH CLUB
Mana ger McCarry of the Century A. C. received a telegram from Robert Fitzsimmons today stating the conditions under which he would accept the club's offer to pull off the proposed fight with Jeffries in this city. The text of Fitzsimmons's message was not given out, but it is understood that he asks for 75 per cent of the gate receipts and a guarantee of $25,000. This combines two of the club's original bids of a $25,000 cash purse, or 7 per cent of the gate receipts without a guarantee, and it raises by $5000 and 6 per cent the third bid of 70 per cent of the gate receipts and $20,000 guarantee. Manager McCarry and his associates, James F. Morley and John Brink, met in consultation, and Manager McCarry replied to Fitzsimmons in behalf of the club. The club officials are inclined to laugh at the suggestion that the New Yorker can have anything to say about prices for the fight and complimentary tickets. "Fitzsimmons is too exacting,"' said Mc Carry in an interview. ''He combines two of our propositions and wants both. We still think our bid of a $25,000 cash purse is the best to be had, and perhaps Fitz simmons will come to see it that way. We have replied to his telegram, but I am not ready to state the conditions made therein. An answer is expected, however. If it comes we will know just where we stand."'
