Lawrence Barrett born April 4 1838 in South Boston to Irish parents. His stage life began as call boy in Pittsburg and his first appearance in Detroit 1863 as Murad in The French Spy. He supported Cushman Booth and other stars across major cities before leading parts in Boston and New York. He served as captain in the Twenty eighth Massachusetts Infantry 1861 63. Barrett later managed theatres in New Orleans San Francisco and New York. He starred opposite Booth and built a noted stage career including Richelieu Shylock Hamlet and Cassius. He formed lasting ties with Lincoln Garfield and Forrest influencing American theatre through management and performance.
The Keystone National Bank of Philadelphia was closed by order of the Comptroller of the Treasury after a long run and reserve deficit. Bank officials declined to release specifics beyond a letter from President Marsh.
