Armed State Police Support Barre Wool Strike

In South Barre six State police officers arrived under Deputy Chief George C. Neal to aid local officers and sheriffs in safeguarding the removal of combed wool from the Barre Wool Combing Company. Despite multiple attempts to move the wool by regular freight trains, engineers and firemen refused, fearing strikers and bullets. A plan to use trucks with heavy guard was implemented to transport 11 bales to Barre Plains and guard the car overnight.
