In Paris on March 18 the A. Hart McKee divorce case returned before the civil tribunal. Maitre Labori argued for Hart Y McKee, who seeks a divorce from his wife. Labori contends McKee spent 355000 dollars to maintain the marriage.
Maitre Labori spoke for four and a half hours arguing against charges of cruelty and deceit. He reviewed Mrs McKee’s accusations as listed by Maitre Banboux and cited a letter to McKee’s mother showing plans to visit Carlsbad and contentment in a Rue Bassano home.
Mrs. Larz Anderson of Brookline claims the title after a formal betrothal announcement is expected for Prince Luigi Amadeo Giuseppe Maria Ferdinando Francesco, Duke of the Abruzzi, and Miss Katharine Elkins daughter of Senator Stephen B Elkins of West Virginia.
The Duke of the Abruzzi, heir to the Italian throne, is reportedly set to marry American socialite Miss Larz Anderson Elkins. Officials deny the union while Rome confirms talks with King Victor Emmanuel III. The couple reportedly plan a Washington wedding around April 2, with Elkins described as an accomplished horsewoman and mountaineer.
In New York on March 18 Miss Helen Daenzer a Brooklyn embroidery and needlework instructor shot herself in a telephone booth after summoning an acquaintance to tend to her body. The revolver shot and her dying groans were heard over the line before help could arrive. A note on a writing pad read Somebody will come to identify me Excuse me for making all this trouble.
An 80 year old Miss Daenzer, a locally known successful teacher, committed suicide after a troubled marriage and ill health. She shot herself in a Reid avenue drug store after contacting a nearby drug store, leaving a note to her mother asking forgiveness and citing a long illness and disappointment. Her mother and brother lived with her, and the note signs off as Helen to her mother.
Haverhill reports District Attorney W Scott Peters will investigate a Boston and Maine edict pressuring employees to back Taft or lose their jobs. John Cronin Jr a car service clerk informed of the ruling after presiding at Hoyt Wittum Taft rally. Peters promised protection and warned of potential trouble if enforced.
