General Boulanger toured Tours after stops at Blois and St. Pierre des Corps where large crowds greeted him. At Tours a crowd of 8000 heard his balcony remarks and a banquet followed with Senator Naquet present. He spoke of bringing religious peace by ending persecution and said Conservatives back a republic but not a parliamentary one.
Paris money markets stay cautious amid a looming Bourse settlement. The Economist warns the French copper syndicate may fail and urges new mutual output rules. Banks, Comptoir d Escompte, and Rothschilds mobilize funds to avert liquidation as 36 million francs are subscribed and 4 million more expected. A separate report from Helena Montana notes 1800 jobs lost after a large Anaconda works fire, with $1 million plus damage and incendiary causes.
