Massachusetts Senate weighs state oversight of school sports

A bill moving through the Massachusetts State Senate would end the A A U dictation of schoolboy athletics and give local school committees full control. The debate centers on whether the Boston Headmasters committee or state authority should govern interscholastic track and other sports. The bill, if enacted, would mark the first official legislative recognition of sport in the state.
