Taormina Collides With Fuller Palmer Off Five Fathom Bank
Off Five Fathom Bank lightship on Sunday afternoon the Italian steamer Taormina collided with the Boston schooner Fuller Palmer in thick fog. The Palmer, lighter and with damaged steering, remained afloat and anchored. the Taormina pressed on to Genoa after signaling for aid. Captain Otis W. Clarke and wife were uninjured. tugs were dispatched to tow the Palmer for repair. The Fuller Palmer, built at Bath, Maine, last fall for William Palmer, is 230 feet long, 2000 tons, and can carry 6000 tons.
