Fire destroys county jail complex. prisoners escape
In Belfast Maine this morning the county jail buildings apart from the jail were destroyed by fire. Sheriff Wandsworth saved part of his furniture but lost stable contents except the horses. A large stock of liquor stored in the house cellar burned. the jail itself remained undamaged. Three tramp prisoners escaped. Loss about 2000 dollars in liquor and 5000 or more with no insurance.
