Lucia di Lammermoor in English at Globe Theatre

Emma Abbott English Opera Company presented Lucia di Lammermoor in English with Emma Abbott as Lucia and Henry Ashton, Alonzo Stoddard, and others. The performance drew applause for Abbott's impersonation and Brignoli's singing, though some cast strains noted. Afternoon and evening bills announced Fra Diavolo and Martha. Stoddard misattribution corrected.

Local Spiritual Seance Ended by Police and Officials

Mr P O A Keeler ran seances at No 8 Davis Street collecting about twenty dollars as spectators watched a staged spirit reveal itself. Prof Duston and inspectors interrupted the performance, cuffs were placed on Keeler, disguises found in a closet, and the exposed ruse likely ends the business of displaying spirits in the city.
