American residents in Canton face serious danger as gunfire damages the home of Mrs. Wilson an American medical missionary. Mrs. Hooper wife of an American oil company employee was visiting. An escape by motor boat failed as the boat was forced to turn back.
A Wilmington launch can not reach the danger zone as bullets rain down. Two women escape aided by Dr Thompson J H Brett and H Butler reaching safety. Reports say a French priest and five converts were killed at Canton. Streets show ghastly scenes with hundreds corpses and ongoing fighting.

White warned the coal industry would halt anthracite work on April 1 unless miners receive a 20 percent wage increase union recognition an eight hour day and other terms He said every hard coal miner in Pennsylvania would lay down tools March 31 If concessions are not made The strike declaration would be delayed pending a bituminous miners meeting in Cleveland March 20 If talks fail March 31 work would suspend until an agreement is reached Retail coal prices for apartments hotels laundries bakeries and restaurants will rise 25 cents a ton tomorrow

Mrs. Hermenes Amaral Barrozo, 22, gave birth at the immigration detention station on Long Wharf after arriving from Naples on the steamer Canopic. The birth raises questions about the child’s nationality and legal status.
Mrs Barrozo a Portuguese resident returns to Portugal with husband and dies later. Her father in Seakonk must claim her before landing after 128 detainees were sent to immigration officers and a 129th appeared. Officials say the child born in Boston cannot claim American citizenship due to jurisdiction. The Canopic under British flag may give the child English or Portuguese status.
After ten delays the trial of Victor M Weil the Boston based mining promoter will start in United States District Court on Tuesday. The government has summoned forty witnesses including two from Idaho and Salt Lake City. Over half the witnesses reside in greater Boston and surrounding areas.
Three prisoners at Lancaster Nebraska penitentiary assassinated Warden James Delahunty Deputy Warden Charles Wagner and Usher A C Heilman and wounded Cell House Keeper Doody. The trio then escaped as a blizzard engulfed the area.
Morley Taylor and Dowd along with Morley shot Deputy Warden Wagner and Warden Delahunty during a prison break at the state penitentiary. The trio forced entry by breaking doors, seized keys, and fired on officers, wounding Wagner Heilman and Delahunty. State militia, sheriff and police formed posses. Adjutant General Phelps in charge. A rumor places three men near a haystack west of the penitentiary as a posse presses the search.
A Virginia gang case ends with a judge sentencing a bandit to prison while prosecutors and a sheriff participate in the courtroom proceedings. The group faced charges related to violent crimes including murder.
A gang of mountain outlaws rode into Carroll county courthouse Hillsville Va and killed the judge the prosecutor and the sheriff during Floyd Allen's sentencing. Only clerk Dexter Goad survived with wounds as jurors and onlookers were struck by bullets. The attack prompted militia deployment to restore order.
News from Carroll county reports murderers barricaded in a mountain barn with ample ammo. A Roanoke special train sent 20 detectives to Galax. Governor Mann raises the reward from 1000 to 3000 to speed arrests. Floyd Allen wounded and confined in a Hillsville hotel room as bloodshed looms.
