March 15 report says Kuropatkin jams his shattered 100000 strong force at Tie Pass while Oyama’s Japanese push forward. Tie Pass is surrounded and indefensible with Russian remnants surrendering in droves as they fail to reach Harbin alive.
Report describes heavy Japanese pressure on Russian forces east of Tie Pass with Kuroki and Nogi pushing toward the road to Tie Pass and Fushun. Many Russians surrender near the Shakhe with over 60,000 prisoners. losses cited include the Third Russian Corps. Concurrently, Henry R. Reed is found dead in the Grand Union Hotel amid unclear circumstances with a wife in question.

A moving picture machine caught fire at Cole's Auditorium in Lynn. George A. Cole was badly burned and taken to hospital as about 200 spectators fled down Oxford Street. The blaze damaged the rear of the theater, caused water damage to two street-floor firms, and cut electric wires darkening nearby buildings. Losses totaled around 9000 dollars, with 3000 for the building. Mrs Annie Russell fainted and a boy named George Miller was lightly hurt amid the crush.
A five story tenement at 105 Allen Street burned early today killing nineteen residents and injuring more than forty. Coroner Goldenkranz suspects incendiary action and subpoenas fire and tenement inspectors to inquest. Dozens trapped by blocked exits and defective sky light doors hindered escape.
John W. Sullivan 41, with no home, was arrested at 2 30 this morning on a murder charge. An unidentified man who died in City Hospital from a fractured skull yesterday after being jailed for drunkenness Sunday night is described as about 35, 5 feet 10, dark complexioned. Two witnesses say Sullivan struck the man in front of 886 Washington Street. The victim had no identifiable belongings.
Plymouth March 14 Indictments for murder in the first degree were reported by the Plymouth county grand jury against Antonio Carpenito and James Del Grosso both of East Boston charged with killing Thomas C Malloy a reserve police officer at Brockton on Feb 23 last Emil Sauri was indicted for murder in the second degree on the charge of having caused the death of Carl Halien at Carver on March 6 last It is expected the cases of all three men will come up for trial at the June term of the Superior Court.
A New York City woman reports severe illness left her health broken and weight down to 120 pounds. After using Father John’s Medicine she regained to 130 pounds and signs her name as Mrs E Carr of 516 West One Hundred Twenty Seventh Street.
Charles Reed, 58, a Boston merchant and director of Otis Elevator Co and several banks, was found dead in a hotel third floor three room suite. He appeared asleep in night clothes with a poison bottle and unknown liquid present. coroner suspects natural causes likely heart neuralgia, no autopsy planned. Reed had close ties to Boston business and arts clubs and recently bought a Marion Mass summer home. He leaves four daughters, a wife, a sister and a brother.
